A plug is a device to which the conductors of an electrical appliance or extension cable are connected, and which enables the receipt of electrical energy from the socket through its contacts. Plugs also have the features of sockets in terms of their construction.

They are divided into two groups as single-phase and three-phase according to their place of use. They are also grouped as grounded and ungrounded plugs according to the way they receive energy for extension or intermediate cables. While male plugs are inserted into sockets, plugs with special sockets (female plugs) that act as sockets in mobile cables are also used.
